Weekly BHRPG Update #1
Felt like starting a weekly update thing because I haven't been as transparent as I want to be about progress on BHRPG2. In the future I'll try to post these on Sundays, but no promises. Anyway, here goes:
Week #1
Gameplay Updates:
I've completely finished the three classes and all of their perks/abilities/supers. However, I want to add more weapons. BHRPG1 only had 3 weapons, and I need to give BHRPG2 better customization than the first game. The way I want to go about this is by having four basic types of weapons that can be upgraded the further you are in the game(i.e. bosses will drop weapon upgrades). I've got some solid ideas for these weapon types, and I'm probably going to work on them after I polish the current GUI and such.
As for bosses and areas, I've made close to zero progress. I'm still prioritizing work on the GUI, smoothness/bug fixes, and behind the scenes shenanigans. Also, I'm currently very, VERY creatively bankrupt when it comes to fun/cool bullet patterns and interesting(and not extremely confusing)boss dialogue.
Graphical/Audio Updates:
There's been some slight changes to a lot of the menus and shop sprites recently. The main reason I decided to clean this stuff up a bit is because most of it was borrowed from BHRPG1, and therefore, absolutely sucked.
You may have also noticed some new background effects during the two boss videos I recently posted. I think they look cool. That's about it.
As for music, I've been "secretly" changing a lot of the songs in the BHRPG2 OST YT playlist. I've been finding more fitting music during the last few months, and as a result I swapped out some of the tracks.
BUGS:
Bugs, yeah, they exist. Mostly just graphical bugs and random Scratch issues. I'll try to find some interesting bugs for next week, if possible.
(Nothing's ever gonna top BHRPG 1 bugs; literally dividing your attack speed by zero and making the game impossible is truly peak comedy.)
Current Goals/Planned Changes:
-New weapons
-Minor tweaks to menus
-Altering confusing dialogue
-Fix layering issues with sprites
-Add a background to the tutorial battle
-Maybe work on EX boss 3
Additional Comments:/Thoughts:
Haven't had a lot of time to work on BHRPG 2 because college, and haven't been very motivated either. I'll see what I can do this weekend.
